Thaksin University put forth efforts to produce renewable energy. We have installed solar street lights and next year we will install solar rooftops on every building’s roof. Currently, we are studying installation processes, conducting a feasibility study and making an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding)with a company in which we expect this project to be completed within 2018.
We also are studying the production of biomass within the university by using organic waste for the main raw materials.
Thaksin University’s ratio of renewable energy production towards total energy usage per year is less than 20% as we are in the initial implementation stage of using renewable energy. We have installed 16 solar street lights (130 watt) with a productivity of 20.8 kilowatts which will last 4.5 hours per day. Total electricity usage is 3,416.40 watts per year.
