Thaksin University has initiated efforts on energy management, energy saving and renewable energy. The Ministry of Energy supported us by replacing our old air conditioners that had been in use for over 10 years with new Inverter Technology Air Conditioners, as well as replacing our Fluorescent light bulbs with new LED light bulbs. Also, we installed solar street lights, conducted a feasibility study of using renewable energy (Solar Power) within the university, and started an energy saving campaign by putting energy saving stickers in every university building to help students and staff realize the importance of energy saving.
Solar energy was operated since 2013. Thaksin University promote to use solar cell in our campus to serve the clean energy usage policy and to build renewable energy environment for our student and staff as demonstration sites and learning space.
The biogas plant has been developed within Thaksin University since 2015 with capacity for food waste loading average 200 kg/day. Organic wastes which use as raw materials usage in Thaksin University Biogas plant are vegetable waste and food waste from University ’s food center. This Biogas plant produces biogas as 18 m3 per day. Moreover, Biogas plant is one of the renewable demonstration site and use as “From Waste to Energy ” learning space for our student and staff.
